Approach: My teaching philosophy is to help students identify their artistic goals and move towards them through technique development, the introduction of new repertoire, evolving study and composition tools, and working together to cultivate a sense of confidence in their musicianship and artistic identity. In particular for singers, I place emphasis on ear training, developing effective study/reading strategies, bandleading, lead sheet writing, and efficient practice tools. I believe that confidence grows as musicianship develops, and I am committed to creating an encouraging, non-judgmental, and purposeful learning environment for my students.
