Approach: I aim for a balanced approach in teaching. Students need to understand their technique and music theory, but both of these are means to an end of musicality. The most valuable aspect of learning a musical instrument is giving someone the ability to express themselves and connect with others. My instructors were very adaptable to my needs as a student, so I believe in the same methods. I don't follow strict technical regimens, but instead I mix and match repertoire books and studies to help the student discover a technique that best serves their needs. If a student learns to play an instrument in a way that is safe and sustainable, they can maintain that skill throughout their entire life
